So, the other day, I accidentally swallowed a live German cockroach in my last drink from a can of alcohol. Yep, you heard that right! 😱 Ever since then, I can’t shake the image of that little guy trying to crawl back up my throat.

Right after it happened, I started chugging fluids like it was my job, hoping to wash it down. But at one point, I seriously felt like it was stuck at the bottom of my esophagus, trying to make its way back up. Is that even possible? I started freaking out, wondering how long it could survive inside me.
After a few hours of panic, I decided to update you all. I thought maybe it was dead. The squirming lump in my throat was probably just in my head, and your reassuring comments helped calm me down. Thank you for that! 🙏
But, of course, that wasn’t the end of the story. I still felt like there was a live cockroach crawling out of my mouth. Ugh, right? Now I’m joking that I’ve become the “Roach Girl.” 😂

The next day, I did a little research. From what I learned, the roach is either completely dead or still fighting for its life in my antacid-filled gut. It could potentially live in there for months! And, of course, I started worrying about diseases or parasites. I really hate cockroaches, and now they’re part of my life story.
But thankfully, when I woke up the next day, my throat felt normal. I didn’t explode into a colony of roaches, so that’s a win! 😅
For those wondering how I knew it was a cockroach: unfortunately, I have a bit of a roach problem at home, so I know them all too well. That can hadn’t been out of my sight for more than a minute, and I’ve dealt with cockroaches escaping from cans left out overnight before. So, something definitely crawled into my drink while I wasn’t looking.
